Get off of my beach.

This started with Arkansas governor huckabee, the father not the daughter and current governor. He had a house on the beach on the panhandle and didn’t like the beach goers coming and going around July 4th. His buddy and fellow governor Rick Scott agreed with him that it’s no fun owning on the beach if the peasants can still get through. So they hatched this law where they transferred what we all owned, the beach, to personal property of the landowner.

Back in the last century, , , , we were somewhere between Shark Pit and where Spanish House is now.

So, there was sufficient parking and the 'cut' through the palmettos was not too bad. Well, we're surfing and hanging around in the water when, , , , , A women comes down from a house there and gets 'in your face' up close telling us to get off of her beach. Say What?! Needles to say that we were not very cordial about it. She went and called the sheriff. A deputy showed up and kinda sorta all ready knew what the story was so, he talked to the lady a bit and then came down to 'interview' us. Well, the bottom line was is that she had just spend a whole lot of money on a beach front home and, , , , as far as she was concerned, , , , she owned the beach. The deputy explained the 'mean high tide' and such and basically told the woman that the reality was that the surfers were okay as long as they did not get up on her dune. She WAS NOT happy.

High tide in Cocoa Beach used to be at the sea wall. Now it's a hundred or so yards out. Things change when you dump 800 trillion yards of sand every few years.

Money will win this battle. In this state anyway.

Beach renourishent invokes some special rules about maintaining access. Sometimes requiring crossovers & parking.

The island of Palm beach has locked down every access point and for the few that are left, there is no street parking of any kind. A ticket on the island is now almost 90 bucks.

Im all for heading up to this area for the next swell that hits and set up a BBQ Party in front of Huckabees house, or better yet that Backstreet Boy dude. JB is right this is coming to all beaches. Similar situation happens on Singer Island (PBC) with the chair rental companies in front of the hotels. My family is still embarrased to this day for me telling the dude, "I aint moving"
